Default My husbands AVM

Hi
My story is about my husband. On Friday April 8th 2005 he came home from work with a headache. It seemed better that night so we didn't worry about it.Saturday morning it was back but after some tylenol he seemed much better.Sunday was the day he got up, went to the bathroom and started to vomit. He was incoherent and screaming with the pain in his head.I got him dressed and took him to emergency thinking it was a migraine. After numerous test they discovered an AVM in the left front of his brain which had bled. From here life was a blur. They sent him home saying that he would have to go to a neuro surgion at our local University Hospital. They sceduled him that Tuesday for an angio. After the angio we talked to a team of doctors who explained our options and told us they would scedule an embolation for Thursday and Friday. That Wednesday was the scariest, longest day of our lives. We talked about radiation but had been told that the avm was too big.So we decided surgery was best.Luckly the AVM was located between the two hemapheres and they would only have to go into his brain a little bit. After the embolations they were going to take it out the following Tuesday. So that day I took my husband(and best friend)to the hospital and held his hand till they took him away for an 8 hour surgery. The doctors had prepared me for the worst. So my brother came up to the hospital to sit with me just in case.
That night I finally got to see him.He looked great considering. The next morning I went to the ICU to see him and he was sitting in a chair having breakfast and coffee asking when he could go home.He was not happy that he had to stay another day but I felt like I had seen a miracle.
He did have some problems with his memory for a few months. But thanks to GREAT doctors and loving support from family and friends he went back to work in August(he doesn't do well sitting around).
My husband is my hero and best friend! He had his last angio 2 weeks ago and it is all over.
It has been 9 months since this all started and seems like years.
I believe in miracles!
God Bless, Kim
