Default My daughter... Spinal AVM

Hello,
My daughter was diagnosed yesterday with Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation.
I am so stressed and overwhelmed!! She is taking it all in stride...they can fix it...I am fine.
Courtney will be 22 in November.
I guess I just need to talk to someone who has been through this and is okay. We have no idea what to expect. The Dr said that she will have an angiogram and then meet with the neurosurgeon.
Thank you,

Keri-Lynn

im so sorry to hear that. i now caqn understand slightly what my mum went through from ur post.
i can though understand where ur daughters comin from, its easier to show the family that she is strong, to try to keep u's strong. believe me she wouldnt be takin in all in stride, deep down its really worryin her. she just needs her family and strangth at the moment.
if i didnt have my family givin me strength i dont no where id be now.
im sorry to hear ur story and i dont have any advise except stick together because it was be a hard and rocky road. especially for your daughter and yourself..just be strong and hopefully everythin works out fine..good luck.

Default Daughter's AVM

Keri-Lynn,
I was 21 when I was diagnosed with a spinal cord AVM. I am now 56 years old and have led a fairly normal life. I see it has been a few months since you posted. Has your daughter had surgery yet? If so, how is she doing? I sure hope all is well.

Default strength

Hello,

Hang on MOM!
It's good to see that you are reaching out for help. I wish my mom had done the same instead of freaking out and transferring all her fears to me. Or at least trying.
I wish your family the best.
New to this, but it seems like I can now talk to people and listen to people who understand.

Sincerely,

M

Yes please keep us updated to let us know how she is doing. My son was 12 when they found his last year and things have changed but we work it out. If hers is small she may be able to bounce back my son joey is not that lucky, but we smile and go with "it" every day. Be strong she will need you right now! It is hard I know, and if I can do it so can you. Just take it day by day. Good luck and god speed!
